Class of 2013 by Taylor

Images aren’t the only things that can be pinned on Pinterest. You can pin videos, too!

To pin a video, use the Pin It button on YouTube and Vimeo.

You can also see other videos from pinners by clicking Videos from the categories menu.
A picture may be worth a thousands words, but sometimes a video is more effective in communicating emotion and captivating a viewer. For example, I love pinning stills of dancers, but they pale in comparison to videos of entire dance routines.
Whether you’re pinning images or videos, you can use Pinterest to collect things that inspire you—all in one place.

When you find something you love on Pinterest, sometimes you want to learn more so you can act on baking those cookies, streaming that movie, or buying that couch. That’s why we’re taking a first step toward making pins more useful. We’re also making it easier to pin no matter where you are.
Here’s how:
Pins with more information
To start off, we worked with some popular websites to show more information on some pins, so you can do more of what you love. You might see:
-Product pins for things like clothes and furniture with pricing, availability, and where to buy (updated every day!)
-Recipe pins from your favorite bloggers and websites that include cook time, ingredients, and servings
-Movie pins with content ratings, cast members, and more
From your feed, you can tell when a pin has more information by the icon that appears below the picture. We’ll also update all of your old pins so they’re more useful, too. For an example, check out this board or just pin from any of these popular places.
For clothes, furniture, gifts and products:
Anthropologie, Asos, BHLDN, eBay, Etsy, Free People, Home Depot, Modcloth, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Overstock, REI, Sephora, Shopify shops, Shop Terrain, Sony, Target, Urban Outfitters, Walmart, Wayfair, Zulily
For mouth-watering recipes:
101 Cookbooks, Better Homes and Gardens, Bon Appetit, Chobani, Country Living, Delish, Epicurious, Good Housekeeping, Leite’s Culinaria, Martha Stewart Living, MyRecipes, Naturally Ella, Nestlé Very Best Baking, Real Simple, Simply Recipes, Skinny Taste, The Girl Who Ate Everything, The Kitchn,What’s Gaby Cooking, Whole Foods Market, Woman’s Day
And for your favorite flicks:
Flixster, Netflix, Rotten Tomatoes

Pinning from mobile apps

We’re also making the Pin It button available in mobile apps, so you can pin on wherever you are! Take a look at these apps to get started:
Behance, Brit+Co, Etsy, Fotopedia, Jetsetter, Modcloth, Snapguide, TED, The North Face, and Zulily
You can only see these new pins in the new look. To get the new look, click the Get it now button on top of your home feed. This is just the beginning and we hope to make all pins more useful in the coming months. What types of pins would you like to see improved? Travel pins? Design pins? Pins of adorable puppies? Let us know in the comments.
Happy pinning (from everywhere)!

Have you ever seen a pin you knew a certain friend or family member would love? Now you can send pins directly to your friends and fellow pinners from the web or your phone. You can even include a message to give it a more personal touch!
Just tap Send from either web or mobile to send a pin. You can send pins to fellow pinners (if you both follow each other), Facebook friends, or email contacts. We’ll show you the most recent people you’ve sent pins to for easy access.

Your friend will see the pin in their notifications or in their email.

If they repin, like or comment on the pin, we’ll let you know through notifications, too!
It was possible to send pins before, through e-mail, but we’ve made it even easier. We’ll be rolling out this feature over the next few weeks. If you can’t send pins yet, sit tight and you’ll be able to soon.
We hope you’re excited to send pins to your friends!

We’ve been hearing that you’d like to know when you try to pin something you’ve already pinned. We’re happy to oblige when we can, so we’ve built a new feature that does just that.
When you pin something you’ve already pinned before, you’ll get a message. You can still pin the image if you’d like, we just wanted to make sure you knew.
Right now, we are slowly rolling this out on web, and we hope to bring it to mobile soon.
Thanks for sticking with us while we built this.
Happy pinning!

Good news, pinners! We’re all about making Pinterest better on your Android, iPhone, and iPad, so we’re excited to roll out iOS 2.4 and Android 1.5. There are a lot of great new features, but here are the highlights:
-Receive notifications: Our notifications are now on mobile! Now you can see who commented on your pin or mentioned you whenever you have your phone handy. And if you can’t get enough, we’re also introducing push notifications so you can find out what’s happening without even opening the Pinterest app.

-Mention your friends: You can now mention people from your phone. To mention someone, just hit @ and start filling in the name of the person you want to mention. Select their name and your friend will get a notification that you mentioned them. Voila!

Search more easily: We’ll now suggest search terms as you type on mobile. You can also see recent searches you made from other places, so if you searched for a soup recipe from your computer, you can do the same search when you’re at the grocery store with just your phone to help you. It’s easy to delete these searches from your settings if you want to.

Excited to get started? Just visit iTunes or Google Play now to update to the latest apps.
Happy (mobile) pinning!

If you use the Google Chrome browser, pinning is now as easy as clicking a button with our handy Chrome extension. It allows you to find images, videos, songs or other pinnable stuff across the web and easily pin them to your boards.

To install, simply head on over to the Chrome Web Store and click Add to Chrome.

After installing, you should see a Pinterest icon on the right-hand side of your browser.

Now, any time you want to pin something on the web, click that button and we’ll show you all the pinnable stuff on that page. Then, click the image you want to pin.
We hope this makes pinning was easy as 1, 2, 3!

Three years ago, when Pinterest was a much smaller community and team, we had a great opportunity to have bloggers try out pinning. The site looked quite a bit different back then, we didn’t have any mobile apps, but it was a lot of fun and we learned a great deal from folks too. Back in 2010, this collaboration was called “Pin It Forward,” and we thought we’d bring back the idea to get to know our British community and how they use Pinterest. We’ve invited blogger Will Taylor of Bright.Bazaar, one of our earliest pinners, to share a guest post and kick off Pin It Forward UK with colour and style.

Hi there! My name is Will Taylor, a freelance interiors journalist and blogger at Bright.Bazaar, happily pinning since 2010. Those who know me can attest to my love of colour, but it’s also true that my addiction to Pinterest is just as strong as my affection for all things bright.
It’s been exciting to see how Pinterest has grown and evolved over the years. While the site has always been available worldwide, the team is making Pinterest feel even more welcoming for those of us across the pond. In addition to Pin It Forward UK, there’s a new (very proper) British English language setting and improvements to make local UK content more easily discoverable for UK pinners when searching.
For the next 30 days, 300 bloggers from the UK will be sharing boards and stories about what inspires them and how Pinterest is a part of their personal passions. We’ve rounded up all sorts of bloggers from home cooks, to automotive enthusiasts, globe-trotting writers and more. We hope this mix will help you discover some great pinners and curators in the UK—no matter what you’re interested in.
To kick things off, you can read “What Pinterest means to me” on my blog. Other fantastic pinners are also starting Pin It Forward UK today so check out their stories and find new pinners to follow:
