As you style hounds know, Fashion Week is as much about upcoming trends as it is about the new threads. It’s one of the buzziest and most stylishly influential events of the year. That’s why we’re working with more than 100 designers, brands, and insiders to give you a behind-the-scenes look.
Through a special hub available at pinterest.com/fashionweek, you can now follow and browse boards on design inspiration, street style, beauty tutorials, and so much more. As you’ll see, top designers are using Pinterest as a source of inspiration, just like many of you! We hope the unique glimpse at this elite event makes it easy for you to pin to your own collections and interpret these trends for yourself.
In addition to the great looks you’ll find on Pinterest, we’ve also partnered with the Style Network to bring Pinterest trends and fashion insiders to TV. Tune in on September 12th at 9 PM ET/PT to check out the special.
We also got a few minutes with one of our favorite designers, Michael Kors, who is kicking things off with his board on what to wear to Fashion Week and beyond. Here’s what he had to say:
Pinterest: How do you use Pinterest to showcase your fashion inspiration?
Michael Kors: Pinterest is a great way to let my fans in on what makes the brand tick. We build boards by the color of the season, featuring fabric patterns and architectural details that inspired the clothes and the accessories. We show destinations that sparked ideas for a specific collection and we have boards that feature my favorite style icons. Pinterest lets me connect with my customers in a visual way, which is so important in the world of fashion.
Pinterest: Your boards really give pinners an all-access look at what you’re doing. How will your Fashion Week board do the same?
Michael Kors: Fashion Week is a crazy, hectic time in New York, plus it’s the unofficial start of fall. I wanted to give my customers some ideas of what to wear right now, whether they are running to shows or just want to look chic and ready for anything. My fall 2013 collection was inspired by the energy and passion of New York, so it’s the perfect wardrobe choice for Fashion Week and beyond.
Follow his board and pin your favorites!
We’re excited to work with Style Network and Michael (are we on a first name basis now?) to bring you this special look at Fashion Week. And we didn’t forget about London, Paris and Milan! Check back closer to these other Fashion Weeks to find the latest from our friends across the Atlantic.
Happy (fashion) pinning!
