“Pinning With Purpose”

If you love pinning and you have your own business or brand, here’s an event that might interest you.

Pinner, blogger, and former small-business owner Christine Martinez is teaching a class in the SF/Bay Area on Thursday, November 3rd titled “Pinning With Purpose: How To Build Your Brand With Pinterest.”

The topics include: how you can pin to build a brand story, how to perform your own market research, and how to reach new audiences with your boards. Most importantly, you’ll learn how to do this without breaking the #3 Etiquette rule: pinning purely for self-promotion.

This week’s round-up doesn’t have many links, but we owe two pinners a huge thank you for hosting Pinterest Parties of their own!

Amira’s monthly girls’ night get-together involved all of her friends picking a recipe from their boards to share. Needless to say, it looks like the party was a delicious success!

Meanwhile, Kristin’s “Favorite Things” party celebrated all her friends’ current obsessions and the hostess’s own pick was… pinning!

Not only did Kristin use a board to save recipes and decor tutorials for party-preparation, she also pinned everyone’s favorites to the board after the party so they could all refer back to it together. You can check out the “Favorite Things Party 2011” board here!

Of course, you don’t have to throw a whole party to be an avid pinner, but if you do create or cook anything from your pinboards, send us an email with a picture! If you want to show it off, we’d love to share it with the community too!

Just some fun photos from the meet-up, the incriminating/hilarious SmileBooth photos are still to come… But if you took snapshots of your own at our meet-up last week, let us know or add them to our Facebook page! You can also check out Lilia Photography’s images from the evening here and Bokeh Photography’s here.

Thanks so much for joining us, pinners - we had a great time with you guys!

07.01.11: Weekly Pinterest Round-Up

pinterest_lameetup_paperflag

Last post about the meet-up until the next event (!), honest. But we figured we had to express thanks to those who not only showed up, but blogged the night away with their own insights and beautiful photos.

It’s great reading about what you enjoyed most about the evening, especially the new friends you made or meeting your blogger-heroes in person. Ahem, Oh Joy. After all, Pinterest isn’t just about pictures or stuff, but rad people and what they end up pinning about themselves!

So, if you’re in LA or just looking for some new pinners to follow, here are some links to scope out:

1. Maggie of Making Me Cranky. Pro photographer and her post definitely flaunts it!

2. Rebekah of A Blissful Nest. An interior designer and inspiration-seeker on Pinterest.

3. Erin of CreativitE. Crafter, scrapbooker, pinner.

4. Carolina of Antologia. Made her own earrings. Enough said.

5. Teressa, aka MsArnoldPalmer. Two blogs; one devoted to Arnold Palmers. Awesome.

6. Elaine of Clothed Much and her much-complimented outfit from the meet-up.

7. Wan of Wan Life to Live. A quote: “super well-dressed, wine-chugging, cookie-munching chicks.” Maybe the funniest post about the event.

Pinterest Meet-Up: Thanks For Coming!

IMG_0679

We can’t say it enough, Angelenos: thanks for coming to the meet-up!

We hope the evening was filled with as many stories, jokes, Polaroids, new friends, hugs, and possibly cookies, as it was for us. Getting the chance to talk to so many of you was irreplaceable, whether we were discussing features you want or your self-designed dress (pinners = awesome; also can’t say that enough).

So thanks again for having a good time with us at Urbanic, givin’ us your two cents, or in the case of a few of you, trucking all the way from San Diego and Mexico!

Pinterest LA Meet-Up!

pinterest_LAmeetup

San Francisco and New York had theirs. Now we’re having our first LA meet-up in just a couple weeks!

If you’re in the area, stop by for a hello and a drink at Urbanic Paper Boutique on Thursday, June 23rd. We’ll be hanging out from 6-9pm.

The event is 100% free, but please RSVP so we can get an estimate on how much booze bacon treats we’ll need.

At the end of the day, we’re always excited about Pinterest, but a chance to talk face-to-face with you all is really unbeatable. Plus, you’ll get to meet each other too! Hope you can make it, Angelenos.
