It started with jewelry and piles of shiny pins. And then came a turquoise, seafoam, and minty fresh avalanche of decorated cupcakes, stationary designs, logos, and home renovations - all with a large sunny streak to go along with it.

The latest trending color combination was being pinned in so many different forms, we had an endless list of seafoam and gold choices for this post. We finally narrowed it down to just a few examples you can find below, but there’s no doubt you’ll see plenty more on boards while browsing!

Pinteresting Trend: Orange

pinterest_blog_trend_orange

Clementine, coral, ochre, Highlighter - no matter what variation you’re talking about, this week’s pinteresting trend is spreading like something… orange-colored and hot! Oh, yes.

Beauty and fashion boards are painted with tangy orange hues while pinners’ redecoration inspiration is sunnier than ever. Then, of course, there are the summer recipes involving pounds of colorful summer fruit.

Below are just a few fresh orange picks, but we’re sure you’ll be able to repin plenty of your own, no matter what category you’re searching.

Pinteresting Trend: Blue & White

pinterest_trend_blue&white

If black-and-white is an all-time classic, blue-and-white is a summertime classic. Within a few seconds, here’s just a handful of things we thought of which promote the color combination:

Nautical stripes, beaches, tropical beaches, Mediterranean beaches, Santorini, ceramic, and more beaches.

The high-contrast pair is pretty much everywhere we’re browsing and searching. And since we found a pin - or ten - for each of these examples, deciding blue-and-white was the latest pinteresting trend couldn’t have been simpler. So from cobalt to cerulean, all with a helping of brilliant white, these are the sources:

1. Josefine Ekman Nilsson photographed by Joel Rhodin for ELLE Sweden May 2011; pinned by Lola onto Tie Dye.

2. Fira, Santorini Cyclades Islands, Greece from CityPictures; pinned by Pam onto Favorite Places & Spaces.

3. Watergate Bay, Newquay, Cornwall by Rojo Design Collective; pinned by Grace onto Surfin’

Pinteresting Trend: Cans

I tried so hard to avoid using a pun, but let’s just get it out of the way: what can’t you do with a can? They’re everywhere. And the ability to drill holes and splice them open for light fixtures, urban-gardens, or upcycled containers of any kind is making them trend on DIY boards across Pinterest.

Here are just a few picks from this week’s widespread, pinteresting trend:

1. Silverware DIY container by Donna Hay Home; pinned by Carlotta onto To-Do List

2. Floral arrangement by April Flowers and photo by Ahlin; pinned by Stephanie onto Wedding

Pinteresting Trend: Color Explosion

pinterest_blog_smokeexplosion

There’s always been a lot of talk of explosions surrounding Pinterest. Inspiration explosions, cupcake explosions, even party explosions - but literal color explosions are now trending.

Maybe it’s a micro-movement in the art world but it seems like nothing is cooler than blowing something up with colored powder and photographing the fleeting moment in all its surreal or violent glory. It’s pretty interesting to observe and we wonder what other trends we’ll notice as Pinterest (hopefully!) explodes in its own right.

1. Shapes by Filippo Minelli; pinned by Eleanora onto Colour Inspired.

2. A-Level Fine Art Finals photos by Louis Lander-Deacon; pinned by Clarissa onto Colorfields.

3. Marc Jacobs Lola perfume campaign photo by Joshua Scott; pinned by Christine onto Color.

Pinteresting Trend: Grey & Yellow

pinterest_trend_greyyellow

This week’s trend didn’t leap out quite the same way neon pink did, but this color-pairing managed to make itself known with persistence. Like a lot of trends, it might have started casually with a few random things you liked or pinned.

Now, when you search for ‘grey’ by itself, you’ll definitely notice yellow is the color du jour to go along with it across almost every pin category. Bridesmaids’ outfits, interiors, wish-list items - grey-and-yellow is making its presence known, so here are our picks:

1. Printed cotton dress by Cacharel; pinned by Olga onto Clothing Texture.

2. snug.blossom necklace by snug.; pinned by Christine onto Colours.

3. Interior by Rees Roberts + Partners LLC; pinned by Olivia onto My Style.

4. Sprig to Mind wallpaper from Modcloth; pinned by Michelle onto Surface Design.
