Yesterday was National Ice Cream Day, and we hope you spent your summer day with a cool treat. As foodies find their recipe inspirations from other Pinners, we’d like to we’d like to introduce you to Jenna, the food-loving blogger of Eat Live Run and the Fresh Tastes Blog at PBS. She loves pinning everything from DIY projects to really cute puppies, and we’re glad to pinterview her this week.
Hi Jenna! First, can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
I am a food blogger, recipe developer and author. I started my blog, Eat Live Run, when I was in culinary school back in 2007 as a way to document my time at school. Well, I kept at it and eventually, it turned into a full-time job and business for me! I really love writing fun, creative recipes that inspire others to get back in their kitchen. My recipes usually feature fresh, seasonal ingredients and don’t involve a million hard-to-find ingredients. My first book, White Jacket Required, is a memoir of my time at culinary school and will be out on September 4th! And no, I don’t run!
What other interests do you have?
I just got my yoga teacher certification and love it! I only teach a couple times a month, but it’s a great break from the kitchen every once in awhile. I also love reading, hiking, traveling and encouraging women to find their passion in life and go for it!
How do you use Pinterest?
I use Pinterest mainly for recipes. I love pinning what my food blogger friends are making and find great new dinner inspiration that way! It’s a great way to keep all the recipes I want to try in one location.
What inspires your recipes?
My recipes are inspired by what’s at the farmer’s market. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, and thus, am pretty lucky that there are some great farmers markets and roadside produce stands nearby. I base my menus on what ingredients are looking fresh and then go from there! My dessert recipes are inspired by my insatiable sweet tooth. I am a true chocoholic.
What advice do you have for bloggers and best practices of using Pinterest?
My best advice is to really get involved in the food blogger community! When you put yourself out there (via Pinterest and other social media platforms), you are automatically sharing your posts, thoughts and ideas. It’s a great way to get involved and meet other bloggers. Pinterest makes it easy to share your blog material with thousands of people who might have never visited your site before. It’s a great way to gain new readers!
Based on your foodie following, who are some of your favorite pinners to follow?
Hard question! I love so many people on Pinterest, but if I had to name a few I think it would be one of my fellow food bloggers, Marla Meridith because she always finds the best stuff to pin! She is a wonderful photographer and her pins always inspire me to be better as well. I also love to follow TODAY because they always put the cutest photos of baby animals on there. And, mrs. french * because everything she pins is just fabulous.
Thanks for the pinterview, Jenna! Keep those recipes (and cute puppies) coming. Happy pinning!
